10 BEST WAYS TO BECOME MORE PRODUCTIVE

ZePLAN | 02:00:00 | 0 comments

“Productivity is never an accident. It is
always the result of a commitment to
excellence, intelligent planning and
focused effort.”- Paul Meyer
Productivity is not just about doing
more. It is about creating more impact
with less work. Thus, productivity is a
combination of intelligent planning
and focused effort. In this, stressful,
busy & hectic world, staying productive
at work or at home is a big challenge.
So is very important to organize your
day to enhance productivity.
Increasing productivity is a regular
and continuous effort, but there are
some tips which has worked for me
and I assure will also help you to
produce more and give a better output
to make your day.
1. START YOUR DAY WELL
2. CREATE A TO DO LIST
3. TAKE BREAKS
4. STOP MULTI TASKING
5. PRACTICE ACTION HABIT
6. USE YOUR COMMUTE TIME
7. GET LOST
8. DON’T DO SO MANY MEETINGS
9. CARRY A GOAL CARD
10. DON’T SAY YES TO EVERY REQUEST
1 START YOUR DAY WELL
According to Robin Sharma, “The way
you begin your day will determine the
way you live your day.” He says the
first 30 minutes after you wake up “The
Platinum 30” since they are truly the
most valuable moments and profound
influence on the quality of every
minute that follows. During this key
period if you think only the purest
thoughts and take only the finest
actions you will notice that your days
will consistently unfold in the most
marvelous ways. Use this Platinum 30
in the work you love most that will
make you feel good.
In order to start your day well, wake
up early. Waking up early is closely
associated with success and
productivity. Most of the successful
people in the world are early risers.
The theory is simple. If you wake up
early, you get more done. Waking up
early helps increase your productivity
because,
There is less distractions in early
hours of the day so you can achieve
more with minimal interruptions
Your brain is charged after a good
night sleep and is more active early
morning so that it can make you
things done quicker and better.
This couple of hours is the quiet
time for you if you are living in a
family with kids.
Hence, utilize this “Platinum 30”
spending in a place where you can
reconnect your life’s mission, renew
yourself and re focus on the things,
that matters most. You may enjoy the
sunrise, or meditate, or, or exercise,
walk or listen to music or you can read
a good book. This will enlighten every
remaining minute your day.
“Win the battle of the bed. Put mind
over mattress. This habit alone will
strengthen your willpower so it serves
you more dutifully in the key areas of
your life.”
2. CREATE A TO DO LIST
In your day-to-day work schedule you
might come across different types and
categories of tasks. Some tasks are
simple and some are complicated.
Prioritizing tasks takes a lot of
brainstorming. So, you should plan to
think about your day or week when
your brain is the freshest. Organize
your time considering which task is
important and how much time you will
need for each task. The best time to
start the most important work is in the
morning when the energy level is high.
If some tasks are larger divide them
into different parts and start doing one
after another. Putting a timer on these
tasks is worth considering so that you
do not lose focus on other items on
your to-do list. Fix a dead line for each
task and break up your time
accordingly. For easier and smooth
progress, cross each task on your to-do-
list after completion. It gives you a
sense of accomplishment and
visualization of progress.
Along with do to list, some of tasks that
does not gives you productivity you
need to ignore that. Hence, also write a
“Stop Doing List”. Those who play at
world class also record what they
commit to stop doing.
3. TAKE BREAKS
Work in 90 minute blocks with 10
minute intervals to recover and refuel
yourself. Recently scientists at the
Pennington Biomedical Research
Center in Louisiana reviewed the
lifestyle of 17,000 men and women
over the duration of 13 years. The
scientists found that 54% of those
people are likely to die of heart
attacks! The reason was that those
people were sitting for most of the day.
If you spend more than 8-10 hours a
desk and without moving around
much, then you will notice that you are
having less energy, feeling exhausted,
tired and down. Productivity is not
measured by the number of hours you
sit at desk. It is measured by how much
you are done without compromising
your health, time or peace of mind.
Take a break between your works that
will energize yourself and enhance
your productivity.
4.STOP MULTI- TASKING
According to new research findings all
the distractions invading our lives are
rewiring the way our brain work and it
drops our IQ by 5 points. The brain is
not good at multi-tasking or switching
rapidly between tasks. Multiple tasks at
a time reduces, efficiency and
productivity Nothing gets full attention
and you are more likely to forget
things. Hence, stay focused one task
and be present for each single activity.
It is always better to focus on one item
at a time.
5. PRACTICE ACTION HABIT
In the David Starr Jordan “ Wisdom is
doing what to do next, skill is knowing
how to do it, and virtue is doing it”.
Without action wisdom is meaningless.
Motivational speakers from since the
ancient periods have been saying that
“Knowledge is Power”. Yes, knowledge
is no doubt the power. But, it
transforms into actual power the
moment you decisively act on it. Make
action as your habit. The more positive
action you take the more you feel like
doing it.
Stop waiting for perfect conditions to
launch a great project. Immediate
action fuels a positive feedback loop
that drives even more action. We often
spend our days waiting for the ideal
path to appear in front of us. We forget
that paths are made by walking and
not by waiting. Act consistently
towards achieving your mission. The
smallest actions are always better than
the boldest intentions.
6. USE YOUR COMMUTE TIME
Robin Sharma has rightly said that, “if
you are commuting 30 minutes each
way everyday at the end of the year
you have spent 6 weeks of 8 hour days
in your car listening to the negative
news blares from the car radio and
starring out the window”.
Many of the highly successful an
enlightened people have the habit of
listening audio cassettes in their car. In
doing so, they transform their driving
time into learning time. Use this time
to listen to fantastic books on audio or
valuable learning programs. This will
keep you inspired, focused and alert to
the endless opportunities around you.
Utilizing your commuting time in a
productive way will enhance your
productivity.
7. GET LOST
This may sounds little indifferent, but
getting lost here means sometimes it is
better for you not to be available for
everyone everywhere. Keep yourself
aloof from distractions. With the fast
growing modern communication
technology we are developing certain
lifestyles that becomes our habits. Like
checking e-mails often, looking at
mobile devices for instant message, be
available online on social media like
facebook, twitter, linked in, You tube,
chat 24 hours or watching TV shows.
Excess use of them causes distractions
thereby decreasing your productivity.
So make a plan to utilize such facilities
when required. Following are certain
useful tips to get yourself lost.
Check email in the afternoon so
you protect the peak energy hours
of your mornings for your best
work. Reply all your e-mails within
an hour.
Stop watching so much of TV.
Switch off your mobile device while
doing important or creative works.
Uninstall social media applications
on your smart phone
Fix a time either afternoon or
evening to use Social media for
your work.
Hence, weed out all these distractions
and think, create plan for right action.
Zero interruptions will lead to pure
focus and massive results.
8. DON’T DO SO MANY MEETINGS
Knowing what meeting to refuse is
very important. Time is the most
important currency in your life.
Unnecessary meeting will kill your time
thereby reducing productivity. So select
few important meetings and do not
keep yourself busy in meetings.
Designate one day per week for the
meeting and rest of the time focus on
works. Adopt a “fit for purpose”
meeting where people that are directly
involved in the project would attend
the meeting. Plan a meeting according
to the task and the manpower
involved. If you think the meeting is
not so relevant to you then try to
refuse.
9. CARRY A GOAL CARD
High functioning and top performing
men and women usually carry a little
goal card in their wallets that they can
review during the quieter moments of
the day. A goal card is a card where
you can list the top life goals along with
their dead line for achieving them. It is
a kind of discipline of reconnecting
your highest priority whether it is
personal, professional or spiritual.
A person who tries to do everything
ultimately accomplishes nothing.
Having a goal card and coming back to
it 2-3 times, a day will keep your mind
centered on the thing that truly counts.
It will foster the self-control you need
to concentrate only on activities that
will move towards your goals. This way
you can become more productive.

10. DON’T SAY YES TO EVERY REQUEST
It is very easy to say yes to everybody
and every request. Most of us have a
deep need to be liked. That translates
into us saying yes to everything –
which is the end of your elite
productivity. This happens when the
priority of your life are unclear. Do not
depend on others to dictate your
actions. If you have a clear vision to
what to do and what not to do you can
say “no” to not essentials and
unnecessary tasks. Schedule your
planner according to your priorities,
not other people’s priorities. This will
help you to say “No” gracefully. This
will give you more time to devote to the
things that have truly power to
enhance your productivity.
I truly hope that this 10 productivity
tips will be helpful
